RE: Drove a new (used) Vette yesterday.

Honestly, if I can ever afford a weekend / fun car, I hope it's one of these:

Job seekers

For all the folks the have been displaced, when your looking for new employment, even though it may be just a fill in, you still have to play like your interested to work there. My wife is doing hiring for her bank, and she had two candidates tell her last week during the interviewing process" At least it's better than nothing", now that makes somebody want to hire you.Jeez how people have become spoiled, no wonder jobs are going overseas.

RE: BRING IT ON HANNA!!!!!

It's just a rain maker, you'll just see where they need to make improvements around the area for drainage though. Bob the old director of the hurricane center lives down the road from me, I don't get worried until he's packing up his RV, or boarding up his windows.

RE: Fiver without bunks for kids. Yes or No ?

My next 5er is going to have bunks,do you know what it's like to get my 13 or 8 yr. old up in the morning so I can sit at a table to eat my breakfast, I don't know how I've put up without bunks this long.

RE: Great mobile tech experience

That's great, if it was a dealer they'd still be filling out the $85 estimate form, and then they'd have to order the $350 wiring harness be they don't stock it.

RE: spider!!

It was probably a Fla. wolf spider, I lived 25miles from that location, and have killed enough of them to have a BBQ.I don't know how many times I've woke up in the morning to have one of those on the wall looking down at me, their pretty fast, and have great eye sight with those 8 eyes.I've killed some that must of been about 4inches across, and you could even hear their foot steps when they run.We have the brown recluse too, but they seem to lay flatter to the wall than a wolf, and not near as large, I don't see too many of those around.Watch out for them little baby scorpions if you pick up something off the ground, their everywhere around here.

RE: Oil at $80 a barrel?

I really think folks are really sick of it, and demand is really taking a drop. I listed my fathers Honda scooter for sale a month and a half ago, just one a day in Craigslist, and I'm still getting calls on it, maybe 15 by now. I also wanted to order another Moped , one for my wife so I can ride in the parks with her, and I guess Tomos can't keep up with the demand in the states anymore, their nowhere to be had. It's going to be a long time after folks get adjusted to driving small vehicles, that they'll fall for buying gas hogs again, the oil folks made sure of that.

RE: New truck

My Dodge was not until 500,then only 50mph next 500 if your towing. I remember putting around town with my boat in tow doing my 2nd 500.I'd at least put 500 on it, only get one chance to do it right.

RE: Can I replace an RV refrigerator with a regular refrigerator

My buddy had one installed in his camper years ago, still no problems with it. You'll be fine. I think you might like it better, because it will cool down in a couple hours, not 12-24.

RE: Easy access to diesel for pickups towing trailers

Dodges will take any nozzle easily . I always use the large nozzles even in the double pump lanes if that's all that's available.

Going from that 3500 to that 1500, it's gotta hurt, I'd be disgusted with the whole truck thing.

RE: Hurricane Hanna

I'll tell it's going to take a lot more than Hanna to tip that over, unless their's a twister in it somewhere. My 5er sat out back of my yard a few years back with 120+ winds threw the eye of the storm, and it didn't tip over , and I didn't have any tanks filled or any thing to keep it down. Their was more damage to my home than the 5er. If anything, park it into the wind, less rocking that way. I can even remember calling my State Farm agent, and asking her it would be considered totaled if it ended up down the street, she told me lets just wait and see what happens first. :)

RE: Database software

Thanks for all the replies, I installed OpenOffice, and it seems like it's the ticket. Now I just have to design it correctly the first time out, if that's possible.:B

RE: Database software

I'm not sure if it would, I've created tables and such with Access, but that was in school. My business is a repair business, and I'd need to know what the status of a particular item is at any time, and if the status changed, it would go to a store with items of the same status(estimate, backorder, repair, not started. Also I need a query were as with the customers name, phone number,or invoice number, it would be able to find the table where the item is stored. It's all for a single user computer, so I really don't need multi user software,or a whole office suite, but I guess that's how it's being sold these days. Thanks, I'll look into Open Office.

Database software

What would be good for a small business on a single computer. To get Access you need the whole MS Business suite, and I'm sure Oracle is a pretty big suite too. Also, on Oracle you can download it for free, but I'm not sure how functional it is being free.

RE: 05 CTD normal oil pressure when hot

Mines down to 20 at idle, and a hair over 40 when I'm at 1500rpms. I don't know if I trust the factory gauges, I'd like to see a mechanical gauge on it myself. These factory gauges are maybe one step better than an idiot light.

RE: Rain, Can I get the TT out?

I didn't go the 4x4 route this time because it seemed like a waste to me with the little bit I'd ever use it.I thought I might of needed it this weekend when the campground got flooded, but I didn't , but if I did I have a nice tow strap under my seat so someone could give me a tug. Now I probably won't be even be in a situation like that in a couple more years. If you live up north, you might use it ever season, down here in Fla. it's mostly pavement , not much need for a 4x4. Most are sold down here so you can look like the Big Kahuna in town, that's about it.

RE: T.S. Maybe H Hanna to visit Florida

I had a 3 day weekend in Daytona in progress, but when it rained all night, and then I stepped out my 5er into 6 inches of water in the morning, and then another 5 inches of mud(almost lost my shoes), that was it for me. We packed up and came home, not a minute too soon, because more rain was in the forecast. I can't see being isolated to just staying up on my concrete slab the whole stay, or wearing knee high rubber boots, besides that, the mosquitos were large enough to drive my truck. I'm actually glad to be NOT camping this weekend now. Of course I couldn't get any refund for being flooded out,it was a special weekend, you bet it was I explained to the office, at least they could of rented me a canoe to get from my truck to the RV.:)
